The nearest airport to which travellers can fly to reach Mcleodganj is Gaggal Airport. Gaggal airport is located in Dharamshala which is at a distance of 20 Km from Mcleodganj. The airport is also known as the Kangra Airport. The airport receives flight from some of the major cities of the countries. From the airport one can travel on road through a taxi or a bus to reach Mcleodganj.
The closest railway from Mcleodganj is located in the city of Pathankot. The railway is at a distance of about 90 Km from the town of Mcleodganj. One can travel further on road from the railway station to reach Mcleodganj. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Mcleodganj from Pathankot when travelling on road via a taxi.
One of the most preferred ways to reach Mcleodganj is through the road. Mcleodganj is connected to major cities of the country through national and state highways. Various private as well as government buses run regularly on the routes leading to Mcleodganj. One of the most popular routes to reach Mcleodganj through the road is travelling overnight from Delhi. It takes around 11-12 hours while travelling on bus from Delhi to reach Mcleodganj.
Best time to visit
There are two distinct time periods which are considered to the best time to explore the exquisite beauty of the Triund hill and surrounding areas. During the summer season the best time to undertake the Triund trek is in the months of May and June. Likewise, the best time to go for a trek to Triund during the winter season is in the months of September, October and November.

The Triund trek is open throughout the year, except in the months of late January, February and March as due to heavy snowfall all the routes leading to Triund Valley is shut down.
